║▀▄ ► Presentación de José José en el II festival de la canción latina [antecedente del OTI] el 14 de Marzo de 1970 y a la edad de 21 años.
Obteniendo el tercer lugar (según el jurado), ante un público que colmó el Teatro Ferrocarrilero de la Ciudad México inconforme por el resultado.
La ganadora fue "Cancao de Amor e Paz", interpretado por la representación de Brasil, Claudia Brasil; y el segundo lugar fue "Con los Brazos Cruzados" interpretado por la representación de Venezuela, Mirla.
Sin embargo, luego de esto, "El Triste" se consolidó como un gran éxito internacional.
